Lumora makes personalized illustrated children's storybooks. You pick your child, a theme, and (optionally) a moment to capture. We craft a unique story where your child is the hero — name, looks, family, even pets — in a few minutes.

Yes. Your first story is free and fully yours — every page, with narrated audio and the PDF download — no card required. You can start it without an account: until you have one, the book shows its first 5 pages and keeps the rest behind frosted glass. Create a free account (with your email, Google or Facebook — no card) and that first story unlocks completely. After that, the free plan lets you make 2 more stories as free samples: a sample shows its first 5 pages in full (text, art, audio); from page 6 the pages sit behind a frosted glass that deepens page by page, until any subscription lifts it. Subscribe before using your samples and the unused ones turn into full story credits on your account.

Sorry — we can't spoil a free sample before it's unlocked. The first 5 pages are yours to read; the rest stay behind frosted glass on purpose, so the ending is a surprise. Subscribe to any plan and the whole story opens up — every page, narrated, with the PDF.

Usually 3 to 5 minutes for the whole book. The text comes first and the illustrations are painted in parallel, so the cover and first pages appear well before the last page is finished — you can start reading while it completes.

The pictures, yes. Open the book and repaint any page from the reader — every book comes with 3 free repaints, and you can add more in packs of 3 for $0.99 (up to 5 packs per book). Add a note about what to change: removing or adding an animal or an object, the camera angle, a close-up or a wider shot all work; adding or removing people, swapping the hero, writing words into the picture, or anything frightening can't be done. Both versions are kept, so you can switch back. The title can be changed too — "Edit title" at the top of the reader. The story text itself can't be edited, and a finished book can't be redrawn from a different photo: for either, make another book.

Stories can be written in eleven languages — English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Japanese, Russian, Korean and Arabic — each narrated by a native-speaker voice. The site itself runs in ten of them (German is stories-only for now).

From babies to about 12. The story craft is tuned to four reading stages — babies and toddlers (0-3), preschool (4-5), early reader (6-7), and older reader (8-12). Vocabulary, pacing, and the shape of the story adjust to match, and a baby's book shows them as babies really are.

Not in one book. Each book has one child as its hero, and the pictures are drawn to look like that child — we can do that for one child per book, not two. Make each child their own book. A pet saved in your profile can join a child's story.

Not from the library yourself yet. Write to hello@lumora.kids with the book's title and we'll remove it for you.

Not at the moment. Lumora writes each story for your child from the theme you pick and anything you tell us — a moment to capture, what they love, who's in their life. Those details steer the story a lot; the title can be changed after.

The books you make are yours for personal, non-commercial use — read them, share them with family, print them, keep them forever. To publish one or sell copies, write to hello@lumora.kids first.

Your first story is free in full, no card — and on the free plan you can make 2 more as free samples (first 5 pages free, then a page-by-page frosted preview; subscribing unlocks them completely, and unused samples become story credits when you subscribe). Open Plan & billing from your account menu (/account/billing) and choose Cancel subscription — or just ask in this help chat and we'll cancel it for you. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period: you keep full access until then, and every story you've already made stays yours. If anything gets in the way, write to hello@lumora.kids and we'll cancel by hand within a few hours.

Subscriptions: within 7 days you can get a refund of the value you haven't used yet — we refund the unused part of your cycle (whichever is smaller, the days left or the stories left) and your account returns to free. Just ask in the help chat or reply to your receipt email. After 7 days a subscription isn't refundable. One-time purchases (single stories, narration) aren't refundable — once a story is made, it's yours. If a story fails to generate, we refund that automatically — you don't even need to ask. Hardcover books are printed to order, so they can't be refunded once printed — if one arrives damaged or wrong, we replace it free.

Printing plus international delivery is typically 2–4 weeks door to door. You'll get a tracking link by email as soon as your book ships.

Shipping is $19.99 to the US, $5 to Japan, and $9.99 everywhere else — free within mainland China, where the books are printed. It's added at checkout. Import duties and taxes are included in that fee — nothing is due on delivery.

Open your gift to claim it, then create your child's story (the digital edition is included). On the finished story's page, use your gift credit to order the print — the book is already paid for; you only cover shipping ($19.99 in the US, $5 in Japan, $9.99 everywhere else, free within mainland China — duties included, nothing due on delivery). Order from the same account that opened the gift.

We're so sorry. Email us a photo at hello@lumora.kids and we'll ship a replacement free, no need to return the original. Your child still gets the book they're waiting for.

Photos make the illustrated child look like your real child — the illustrator uses them as a visual reference. You don't have to upload one: you can design an avatar instead, or describe your child in words.

No. On the create page, tap "Design avatar" and build your child from choices — skin tone, hair colour and style, glasses and other details — then confirm the picture, and the book is drawn from it. If your child is saved in your profile, the avatar you design is kept there, so their next books use it too.

Photos are stored encrypted and used for one thing: drawing your child in your books. They are never used to train any AI model — ours or anyone else's. A photo you add while making a book is kept with that book, so its pages can be repainted later. Photos saved to a child's profile stay there until you remove them, delete that child, or delete your account — you can remove them any time from your profile.

Good lighting, a clear face, a few different angles and expressions — up to 3 on the create page, up to 5 in a child's profile. Avoid sunglasses, hats covering the face, or heavy filters, and use a photo of one child only.

Go to your profile and scroll all the way to the bottom — the "Account controls" footer has a link reading "Export or delete your data." That opens /account/data, where you can see everything we hold for you and trigger deletion. We email a confirmation link; once you click it, all your data is permanently removed within minutes. Stories you've already paid for stay readable through their private links.

Yes. /account/data (reachable from the "Account controls" link at the bottom of your profile) shows everything we hold — heroes, family, stories, orders — and has a button to download it all as JSON.

There's no password to forget — Lumora signs you in with your email, or with Google or Facebook. On the sign-in page, enter your email and we'll send you a 6-digit code; type it in and you're signed in. If the email doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder — or use the Google or Facebook button if that's how you signed up.

Yes. In Heroes & family (your account menu), add each child once — name, birth month, and photos if you like. On the create page, tap their name and the book is set up for them; you can design an avatar for them there too. To remove a child, press Delete on their card. Each book stars one child.

We have a multi-layer automated safety system: forbidden-word filters, an AI safety judge that reads every draft, age-tier-specific rules, and a critique-revise editor. No story ships if it fails safety review.

Never. We don't use your child's name, photos, or stories to train any model — not ours, not Anthropic's, not anyone's. This is in our Terms and we enforce it technically.

Yes. Lumora is a parent-facing service — children don't sign up directly. We don't show ads, we don't run third-party trackers, and we comply with COPPA's requirements for children's content.
