What actually lands in their inbox
A Lumora gift isn't a book we've already made — it's the book their child stars in, waiting to be made. On the day you choose, the parents get an email with a link to unwrap. They add their child's first name and one photo, and a story is written and illustrated around that child: the hero of it, looking like themselves on every page. You never need the photo yourself. The part only they can do takes about two minutes.
You get something to hold, too. A printable reveal card and a shareable link come back with your receipt, so a gift that lives in an inbox still has a moment of opening in it.
How gifting works

- 2Choose the gift. Three shapes: a pack of stories for them to make, a keepsake hardcover, or a full year of new stories every month.
- 3Send it — straight to their inbox, or scheduled to land on the morning of the day. Guest checkout, so you don't need an account to give one.
When it arrives
The digital half is immediate. Once the parents make the story it's ready that same evening — read it on any screen, listen to the narration, download the PDF.
The keepsake hardcover is made, not stocked. It goes to print only after their story is finished, so it takes 2–4 weeks to reach the door, and shipping is settled when they place the print order. Gift codes never expire, so a busy month on their end never costs you the gift.
Questions people ask before they send one
Do I need a photo of their child?
No — that's the one part we deliberately left with the parents. You send the gift; they add the first name and the photo when they open it. Which means you can send this to a family whose child you've never met.
What do I need to know about the child?
A first name and roughly how old they're turning is plenty, and even that is only used to make the unwrap moment personal — the parents confirm everything when they make the book. You never need a shipping address either: if the gift includes a hardcover, the parents enter the address themselves when they order the print.
What language will the book be in?
Whichever of our ten languages the family reads in — they choose when they make the story. Every language is written in that language from the start rather than machine-translated out of English, so the rhythm and the wordplay belong to it.
What if they never get around to opening it?
Gift codes never expire. We send one gentle reminder on your behalf — one, not a stream — and you can nudge them yourself in a click from your receipt email.
Can they see what I paid?
No. Prices appear nowhere in the gift: not in the email, not on the reveal card, not in the finished book.
